"You want more?"

Dear Parents / Guardians,

Hope you all had a wonderful half term.

Homework will always include reading, spelling and times tables and on occasions additional tasks linked to our topic. Homework will be given on Wednesday to be handed in on the following Monday. If there are any issues with this, please let us know and we can sort it out.

It would be beneficial if you could support your children with regular reading and questioning the children on what they read; helping them to learn their spellings and times tables. All the children have access to Purple Mash and Times Table Rockstars this is a great resource to support their learning outside school. This term our focus is on History. We will be looking at the Victorians and especially life for Victorian children. Within English, we are looking at the Runaways, a Victorian story about workhouse children and we will be reading Oliver by Charles Dickens. It is an exciting term as we will be visiting Horton Kirby, a Victorian school and the children will be treated as Victorian children from that school. The main event will be our production of ‘Oliver’ to show you all.

Geography – Looking at parts of the UK from Manchester to London. Maths - Division, fractions and decimals; in Science looking at animals, including humans. PE this term is Victorian PE/drills and gymnastics. Please make sure PE kit and trainers are in school at all times. They should also bring in jogging/tracksuit bottoms and a hoodie/tracksuit top for when it gets colder. In RE we are looking at Giving and Receiving.

We have Golden Time on a Friday and we also have class and individual rewards for excellent work and behaviour.

We want to work closely with you all for the best outcomes for all the children, so if you have any questions or issues, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We are looking forward to a happy & successful term.

Kind Regards

Mr Bennett & Mrs Browne
