Who are young carers?
A young carer is someone under 18 who helps look after someone in their family or a friend who is ill, disabled or misuses drugs or alcohol.

At St Mary's we celebrate how special our young carers are. Once identified the young carers meet regularly to discuss any issues they have. Once a term, the young carers go on a lunchtime outing where they have the opportunity to play and interact with each other. We have been to Bettshanger Park, Tides Tennis Centre, the Youth Centre to play pool and other games as well as the beach. There are further trips planned for the rest of the year including table tennis, Walmer Castle and East Langdon Park.
I don't get to go out much at home but with the group I feel like I am out with my family.
