Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas break and has come back to school ready and raring to go! A reminder of the important information for Year 6 this term:

PE is two sessions a week - usually Thursdays and Fridays but is subject to change. I will alert you by dojo to tell you of any changes.

Term 3

We are now into term 3 and this is one of our most important terms. We have a lot to learn this term and a lot to remember. In maths we are continuing making the links from previous years and consolidate our learning. This term we are working on standard measurements and converting them, both imperial and metric. We will then move on to ratio and algebra.

In English we are continuing reading our class reader - The Wolf Wilder - by Katherine Rundell and we are working on perfecting our grammar skills. Please continue supporting your child's comprehension skills with their CGP homework books. We will be learning to write informal and formal letters and ensuring that our writing is accurately punctuated and reads clearly.

Our History topic for the next two terms is World War 2, which will provide us a lot of scope for writing as well as being fascinating with links to our locality. If you want to visit any good historical sites, please consider the Spitfire museum over at Manston or Hellfire corner at Dover castle. Take photos so we can all share!

Our RE this term is learning about the bible and what books are contained within and learning about the history of how we now have access to a book we can all have in our houses. We will be learning about the genres and making sure we know where to look for which book.

It is a very exciting but full on term. The children are going to be working very hard and so will need good sleep and plenty of fresh air! As always - any concerns, please contact me by dojo or on the gate at the end of the day.
