Class 5 Summer week 4
Happy Monday! I hope you are all keeping busy and being helpful at home. What did you do to celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE day? I’m very much enjoying your messages when you hand in work and I loved playing your Harry Potter computer games last week. Keep up the good work all of you and don’t forget to do some random acts of kindness this week, see how many people you can make smile. If you know anyone in your family who is isolation alone ask a grown up if you can call and chat to them to cheer them up.
From this week the maths worksheets that go with the video and Bitesize lessons have to be paid for. School has done this for you and the worksheets are in the class blog.

Monday’s is separate as I was learning how to do it. The worksheet is first, then the answers to check it. Please let me know how you are getting on with them.
The BBC Bitesize daily lessons are great and you will recognise some of the clips and activities as we use them in school too - https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/tags/zhgppg8/year-5-lessons/1
Please get on to Times Table Rock stars and NumBots. The people who have been on them are making massive progress.
Term 5 week 3 spellings – Is the person testing your spellings telling a little lamb story with them? If not perhaps you could make one up for them. The resources for this can be found here https://www.twinkl.co.uk/resource/t2-e-41290-year-5-term-3a-week-4-spelling-pack

English – I do hope you are enjoying Harry Potter so far. Could you write some descriptive potions this week or invent some magical sweets? Could you write a poem about Hogwarts or the characters you have met so far?
On Purple Mash I have set you the next set of touch typing skills, this is one of the most useful things you can do as you will need these skills throughout your life.
Keep yourself informed of what’s going on in the world by watching Newsround, I know we always love this in class - https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround
Science – How is your plant coming on? Has it started to grow yet? Can you keep a diary of the changes? What do you notice on your daily walk? What has started to grow? How is it changing day by day and why do you think these changes are occurring?
PE – it’s really important to do some physical activity every day, especially going for a walk. Exercise helps us to keep our bodies and our minds healthy. Have you tried anything new? Don’t forget Go Noodle too. Have you ever tried Zumba? It’s great fun, there are some great ones here - https://family.gonoodle.com/channels/zumba-kids
RE- Research one of these forms of energy, wind, water or solar power, using books or the internet. How does it transform energy? What are the pro and cons as a viable source of energy? What do you feel about it? How will it help people? What values does it promote? Could you produce a PowerPoint to share your findings? We are looking at the source of energy that comes from God next week.
Get creative – can you make a picture with natural objects you find? Can you recreate one of the pictures on Pobble 365? Can you learn to sew?
If you have made or done anything that we can all have a look at please send your pictures to school and they will be added to the school Face Book page.
Send them to ook.faceb@st-marys-deal.kent.sch.uk
