Throughout the year the children in Year 3 will be studying different topics based around a 'theme' from the Cornerstones curriculum. Below is a list of each topic and what is included within them. These topics enable the children to learn in creative and exciting way!
Gods and Mortals - Develop children’s knowledge of the ancient Greeks. Children learn how and when the ancient Greek civilisation flourished, and understand their culture, armies and heroes.
Mighty Metals - Teach children about forces, magnets and the incredible properties of metals. This project develops children’s knowledge of metal names, where they are found, their main properties and how metals can be used in everyday life.
Urban Pioneers - Explore the culture and environment of city life. Children develop their knowledge of building design, urban art and photography, and learn how to improve urban environments.
Rocks, Relics and Rumbles - This project teaches children about the features and characteristics of Earth's layers, including a detailed exploration of volcanic, tectonic and seismic activity.
Emperors and Empires - This project teaches children about the history and structure of ancient Rome and the Roman Empire, including a detailed exploration of the Romanisation of Britain.
Predator! - Develop children’s knowledge of predatory animals, plants, food chains, habitats and learn the key parts and functions of animals and plants.
Flow - Teach children about local and world rivers developing their knowledge of river locations, river formation, the water cycle and how to conduct accurate fieldwork.
