Together we are a family of God, a family of love, a family of learners

R.E.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church addresses the search for meaning in life. God’s initiative in Revelation who comes to meet us and our response of faith. This pattern guides the structure of the programme and informs the process of each topic, opened up through; Explore, Reveal and Respond from the Come and See Curriculum.

🌟 Year 4 RE🌟

This year in Year 4, we’re embarking on a wonderful journey of discovery and reflection through our Come and See curriculum. This program allows us to explore important themes of faith, belonging, and how we can live out our values in our daily lives.

Here’s a closer look at what your child will be learning in RE this year:

🕊️ Autumn Term: Family, Belonging, and Advent

  • People - Domestic Church: Family
We begin by reflecting on our families and what it means to be part of God’s family. We’ll explore how love and care strengthen our bonds at home and within the Church.

  • Called - Baptism: Belonging
This topic focuses on the sense of belonging that comes through Baptism. We’ll look at how God calls each of us to serve Him and one another.

  • Gift - Advent: Loving
As we prepare for Christmas, we’ll reflect on the special gifts we give and receive. Most importantly, we’ll learn about the greatest gift of all: Jesus.

✝️ Spring Term: Community, Sacrifice, and Celebration

  • Community - Local Church: Community
What does it mean to be part of a faith community? We’ll explore the roles we play in supporting each other in our local parish and beyond.

  • Giving & Receiving - Eucharist: Relating
This topic highlights how the Eucharist is an act of giving and receiving, symbolizing God’s love and the importance of sharing this love with others.

  • Self Discipline - Lent/Easter: Giving
Lent and Easter teach us about sacrifice and self-discipline. We’ll reflect on Jesus’ ultimate gift and how we can practice generosity and kindness in our own lives.

🔥 Summer Term: New Life, Forgiveness, and Service

  • New Life - Pentecost: Serving
Through the story of Pentecost, we’ll discover how the Holy Spirit inspires us to serve others and bring renewal to our faith.

  • Building Bridges - Reconciliation: Inter-Relating
Forgiveness is a powerful way to heal relationships. This topic will explore how we can build bridges of peace and understanding with those around us.

  • God’s People - CAFOD
We’ll learn about inspirational people who have lived their faith through acts of service, with a special focus on the amazing work of CAFOD in helping communities worldwide.

🌍 Exploring Other Faiths

To broaden our understanding of the world, we’ll also be learning about other major world religions, including Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, and Sikhism. By exploring these faiths, we aim to foster respect, curiosity, and an appreciation for the diversity of beliefs and traditions.

Supporting Your Child’s RE Learning

We encourage you to take an active role in your child’s spiritual learning journey. Here are some simple ways to get involved:

  • Share your own experiences of family and community with your child.
  • Attend Mass, services, or community events together.
  • Have conversations about what they’re learning and how it connects to their lives.

Faith in Action

RE in Year 4 is not just about learning—it’s about living. The values we discuss in the classroom help shape how we treat one another, contribute to our community, and make the world a kinder place.

Thank you for your ongoing support in helping your child grow in faith, understanding, and love.
