School Council

Meeting with Chartwells

We met with a representative from Chartwells to discuss school dinners.  She shared the new menus and asked for our feedback on current and future meals.  We asked her about the medical menu and why we cannot have certain foods.  Mrs Goodwin was impressed with how insightful our discussion was and how well we articulated our views and supported our class mates.

Our new playground equipment is here!

The school council helped Mrs Goodwin to unpack, share out, organise and tidy the new playground equipment that had been delivered.  Our first order of business had been to revamp playtimes.  The council asked their classes what sort of thing they would like to have at break and then the school council fedback to Mrs Goodwin all their great ideas.

The PTFA then very kindly funded our new equipment, a brilliant example of what we can do with your fantastic support!

All the boxes were very exciting but the councillors got stuck in and unpacked, there was fantastic team work as we worked to sort it all out and they even tidied all the rubbish away afterwards.

The councillors are now responsible for looking after and tidying away the equipment at play times. They are doing a fantastic job in their new role.

It was a very exciting playtime when the rest of the school found their new equipment!

School Council is Back!!!

We have had an election and the school council representatives were chosen by their class because of there skills suitable to the role.
Every term we have a school council meeting. Mrs. Goodwin sets an agenda with any whole school issues she would like our thoughts on and also any issues that we have raised in our previous meeting. At the end of each meeting we are also set a question to take back to our class and we feed this back at the next meeting.

The school councillors have a very important role as it is their responsibility to feedback to their class any decisions that we have made in the meetings, ask them questions to ensure we have everyone's opinions on the issues we discuss and also to be there to listen to the views at their class at informal times.

Our School Councillors

The school council are also responsible for a lot of changes that we make in school, these are some of the changes we have already made or are making:

  • changes to the behaviour policy, now 'Relationships & Regulations' policy.  The council have been sharing their classes ideas for the DoJo shop.
  • revamping playtimes - helping select new resources for the playground
  • looking after the equipment store at play and lunch times
  • Sharing the children's views on our school and how it can be improved

And there will be lots more to come.....
