  • Red Nose Day 2025

    Fri 21 Mar 2025

To raise money for Red Nose Day at St Mary's, we decided to do something a bit fun and different. The children could wear a silly hat, have silly hair or wear Red Nose Day Merchandise. This was a non-uniform day, which the children and staff always enjoy.

Here are a few of our pupils amazing efforts. What fun it's been!

  • NSPCC Numbers Day and WOW afternoon

    Fri 07 Feb 2025

It is NSPCC Numbers Day on Friday 7th February and we would like to celebrate the wonder of maths and raise money for a good cause at the same time.

It is a £1 donation which is payable on Parent Pay and the children can come dressed in anything linked to maths! This could be their favourite number, something from a game that involves numbers such as a dart board, dice or a game piece. They could come as a shape or something linked to time or directions. Or they could come as a rock star for Times Tables Rock Stars.

We will have some fun maths activities throughout the day followed by a WOW afternoon where parents and carers are invited to come along and find out what the children have been doing in class.

WOW afternoon starts at 2pm so we hope to see you there!

  • We celebrated the Opening and Blessing of our new school

    Tue 28 Jan 2025

On Tuesday 28th January 2025, Mrs Pullen and St Mary's welcomed Archbishop John Wilson, Bishop Paul Hendricks and local clergy along with Annemarie Whittle CEO and members of KCSP, DFE, Baxall, parents, pupils and staff, past and present to the Mass, Opening and Blessing of our new school building.

Archbishop John Wilson led a Mass at St John the Evangelist followed by a Blessing and ribbon cutting outside the main entrance of St Mary's.

It was a wonderful way to mark such a special occasion.

We would like to thank all those that helped make this celebration possible, everyone who attended and those that supported us through out the build process.

  • World Book Day 2024

    Tue 12 Mar 2024

All the staff and children dressed up for World Book Day .

We started the day with an assembly to think about what World Book Day means and why it is important.

We had competitions for photographs of children reading in unusual places including on the back of a horse and at the dentist.

Mrs Hurst and Miss Johnson (our English Leaders) had organised and led the day well.

We spent the morning exploring 'The Quest' by Aaron Becker in our classes.  It was great to see the progression in what the children took from the books.

In the afternoon we split into mixed age groups and the children completed two workshops.  There was a wide variety of  book linked activities for them to choose from. It is always good to see how the older children support the younger ones.

The day finished with a second hand book sale led by our PTFA.

What a wonderful World Book Day we all had.

    Warm Regards,

    Maria Pullen
