Statement of Intent

At St. Mary’s Catholic Primary School, our Science curriculum is designed to provide all children with a comprehensive understanding of the world around them. We aim to equip our students with the knowledge, skills, and scientific language they need to enjoy Science and think critically about the world.

Our curriculum ensures that lessons are engaging and enjoyable, fostering a sense of curiosity and excitement about scientific discovery. We focus on helping students understand scientific processes and develop their ability to think and work scientifically.

In addition to building scientific knowledge, we aim to deepen students’ understanding of the uses and implications of Science, both in the present and for the future. We seek to inspire our pupils to become budding scientists who care for the world around them. We encourage them to be curious about their environment, to explore how human activity impacts the planet, and to understand their responsibility in caring for God’s creation.

Through this approach, we hope to cultivate not only a strong scientific foundation but also a sense of stewardship and responsibility towards the world and future generations.

Our Mission and Values

Together we are a family of God, a family of love, a family of learners.
