Together we are a family of God, a family of love, a family of learners

RE

The Catechism of the Catholic Church addresses the search for meaning in life. God’s initiative in Revelation who comes to meet us and our response of faith. This pattern guides the structure of the programme and informs the process of each topic, opened up through; Explore, Reveal and Respond from the Come and See Curriculum.

Welcome to our Year 6 RE Blog! 🌟 This year, we’re embarking on an exciting journey through topics that deepen our faith, connect us with others, and celebrate the diversity of religions across the world. Let’s dive in! 🌍

Loving - Domestic Church - Family ❀️🏠

We begin by focusing on family, the heart of love and belonging. Families are often called the "domestic church" because they are where we first learn about faith, forgiveness, and compassion. Together, we’ll reflect on how God’s unconditional love flows through our families and inspires us to share that love with others.

Vocation & Commitment - Baptism - Belonging βœοΈπŸ’§

What does it mean to be called by God? Through the sacrament of Baptism, we learn about belonging to God’s family and the promises made to live a life of faith. We’ll also explore how vocations—whether in marriage, religious life, or community service—help us live out God’s call with commitment and joy.

Expectations - Advent - Loving πŸŽ„βœ¨

As we prepare for Christmas, the season of Advent teaches us to wait in hope and love. We’ll reflect on the great expectations people had for Jesus as the Messiah and how His birth fulfilled God’s promise of salvation. Advent reminds us to prepare our hearts to welcome Christ with love and generosity.

Sources - Local Church - Community β›ͺ🀝

The local church is a vibrant community where faith comes to life. It is a place of worship, prayer, and service, where we hear God’s Word and share in sacraments. We’ll explore how the Church connects us to each other and supports us in living as followers of Christ.

Unity - Eucharist - Relating πŸžπŸ™

The Eucharist is a sacred celebration that unites us with Jesus and with one another. By sharing in the Body and Blood of Christ, we are reminded of God’s love for us and called to live in harmony and peace with others. The Eucharist is a moment of deep connection and gratitude.

Death & New Life - Lent/Easter - Giving ✝️🌷

During Lent, we reflect on sacrifice, forgiveness, and renewal, leading to the joyful celebration of Easter. Jesus’ death and resurrection show us that even in the darkest moments, there is hope and new life. Lent also calls us to give generously—whether through kindness, time, or support for those in need.

Witnesses - Pentecost - Serving πŸ”₯πŸ•ŠοΈ

At Pentecost, we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit, which filled the disciples with courage and strength to spread the Good News. We’ll reflect on how we, too, can be witnesses of faith in our actions and words. Serving others is one of the greatest ways to share God’s love with the world.

Healing - Reconciliation - Inter-Relating πŸ’™πŸ€²

Forgiveness is a gift that heals and restores relationships. The sacrament of Reconciliation reminds us of God’s mercy and calls us to extend that mercy to others. By embracing forgiveness, we strengthen our relationships and bring peace to our lives and communities.

Common Good - CAFOD 🌎❀️

Living for the common good means thinking beyond ourselves and working together for the well-being of everyone. We’ll explore how CAFOD supports communities around the world, showing us the power of faith in action and inspiring us to care for those in need.

World Religions: Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism πŸ•πŸ•ŒπŸ•‰οΈβ˜¬

This year, we’ll celebrate the richness and diversity of global faiths:

  • Judaism: The importance of the Torah, Shabbat, and the story of Moses. ✑️
  • Islam: The Five Pillars and the significance of prayer and charity. β˜ͺ️
  • Hinduism: Beliefs about karma, dharma, and sacred texts. πŸ•‰οΈ
  • Sikhism: The principles of equality, service, and devotion to God. ☬

Through these topics, we’ll discover the shared values of love, respect, and compassion across all faiths.

Reflection and Growth πŸŒ±πŸ™

Through these exciting topics, we’ll grow in our understanding of faith, love, and the beauty of diversity. Stay tuned for more updates as we share our reflections and experiences throughout the year!
