Term 5 24 - 25

Maths
Fractions and shape will be our focus.  The children will be introduced to finding fractions of numbers and shapes and how fractions are written.  Shape learning will be all about the properties of 2D and 3D shapes and comparing them.  We will also discover that some shapes are symmetrical

 

Writing
Dragons will be our theme to write a defeating the monster story.  They will be creating their own dragons and writing a non-chronological report.

 

Reading

Beast Quest Book 1: Ferno will be our first read this term.   We will be making predictions, unpicking vocabulary, making inferences and summarising the plot.  We shall also be reading a range of pictures books about dragons to take inspiration from.
 

Science
We will continue with our plants learning and finding out whether our plants have thrived under different conditions around the school.

 

R.E.
The gift of Holy Spirit, which is celebrated at Pentecost, strengthens Christians to share in the mission of the Church by spreading the Good News of the message of love of the risen Christ. 

 

D.T.
The children will be thinking about 3D structures and using clay to make house tile linked to their history learning.
Using their knowledge of levers and linkages they will be designing and making their own moving dragon.  Cardboard boxes that we can cut up would be gratefully received.

 

History 
The big question that we shall be investigating using different sources is Where did Kings and Queens live through time?  Local history will come into play with this learning as we shall discover why there are so many castles in our local area!

 

R.S.E. & Computing
How can we stay safe both when we are out and about along with when we are online.

We shall be collecting data and using this to make pictograms.

 

Music & P.E.
We will be singing this term and discovering how we can use our voice as an instrument and to sing in two parts!

 

We shall be outside playing cricket and athletics
