Term 4 blog

Here’s what’s happening in term 4:

➗📏 Maths – This term, we’re diving into fractions, percentages, and decimals, along with exploring perimeter, area, and volume. Pupils will be applying these concepts in real-world problem-solving tasks to build confidence and fluency.

✍️ English – Survival Stories & Amulet Poetry – Inspired by The Explorer by Katherine Rundell, pupils will be crafting their own thrilling survival stories! They’ll be putting themselves in the shoes of stranded adventurers, facing challenges and using creativity to make it out alive.

We’ll also be exploring poetry, focusing on Amulet by Ted Hughes. Pupils will analyse his use of powerful imagery and language before creating their own amulet poems, using rich description and poetic techniques to bring their ideas to life. A key focus will be Grammar, Punctuation & Spelling (GPS)—helping pupils refine their sentence structure, expand vocabulary, and perfect their punctuation!

🌿 Science – Living Things and Their Habitats – This term, we’ll be studying different living things and their habitats, exploring classification, adaptation, and the delicate balance of ecosystems. Pupils will investigate how organisms survive and thrive in their environments, deepening their understanding of the natural world.

🌍 History – World War II – This term, we’ll be exploring World War II, learning about key events, the impact on different countries, and the experiences of those who lived through it. Pupils will develop their historical enquiry skills, using sources to understand the past and make connections to the present.

Religious Education – The Eucharist, Lent & Easter – Pupils will deepen their understanding of the Eucharist, exploring its significance in Christian worship and reflecting on themes of community and thanksgiving. As we move through the term, we will journey into Lent and Easter, focusing on themes of reflection, sacrifice, and renewal, helping pupils connect these important events to their own lives.

🎨 Art – Make My Voice Heard – In this exciting art unit, pupils will explore art as a form of expression and protest, inspired by different artistic movements. They will study graffiti, war art, and modern influences to create powerful pieces that convey messages about identity, social justice, and change.

🎶 Music – World War II Songs – Pupils will continue their exploration of WWII songs, learning about their historical context and how they lifted spirits during challenging times. They will develop their performance skills while reflecting on the messages of resilience, unity, and hope found in wartime music.
